Flavor Faves: Dining near Kirby Creek

tab5The scenery isn't the only highlight of Breckenridge. Dining out (more than 76 restaurants) can be its own experience.

There are quaint little cafes, bustling breweries and tablecloth dining on the menu for every taste and occasion.

Some of our favorites

This wasn't easy, but since we've been around Breck long enough to work up lots of appetites from dozens of outdoors activities, here's four of our favorite dining spots where you can sample regional specialties, kick back with familiar burritos and salsa, grab the family for a memorable meal or enjoy a taste of world-famous bar fare. And the price ranges are sure to appeal.

  • Bold regional cuisine like ruby red trout, elk sirloin and ahi tuna are presented in a relaxed atmosphere with great mountain views.
  • 137 S. Main St. on the Riverwalk

Mi Casa

  • Fresh thoughts on Tex-Mex in an extensive menu (including desserts and Juan's specialties) rule at this favorite spot for locals since 1981.
  • 600 S. Park St.
  • (970) 453-2071

Rasta Pasta

  • This family restaurant with reggae music and heaping portions of Jamaican-influenced dishes will present an inexpensive cultural experience.

Downstairs at Eric's

  • Advertised as a food, sports, fun and beer hangout, Eric's puts the emphasis on fun (there's a Web cam and arcade), but the menu has lots of tasty treats like wings, pizza and comfort food.
  • 111 S. Main St. (A on the map)
  • (970) 453-1401
